UConn-Depaul halftime analysis

John F. Silver

It is not a particularly encouraging first half for the Huskies against DePaul.

UConn is shooting 50 percent from the floor, holds a 16-12 edge in rebounding, but is somehow trailing 37-34 at the half.

The problem here for the Huskies is defensively, as the Blue Demons are getting to the basket at will. DePaul has 20 points in the paint in the first half as UConn’s frontline is non-existent.

Tyler Olander continues to struggle to produce with two rebounds and no shots in the first half. Phil Nolan came in, and didn’t do much better. Kevin Ollie went deep on his bench and dusted off Leon Tolksdorf to help.

Cleveland Melvin leads DePaul with 10 points while Charles McKinney added nine on 4 of 4 shooting.

The Huskies are scoring and playing well offensively with 12 points from Ryan Boatright and 11 from Shabazz Napier. The Huskies will score on DePaul, the question is, can they stop them?
