UConn against No. 1

John F. Silver

No. 1 Louisville will become the ninth time the Huskies have played a No. 1 team in its history. UConn holds a 2-6 record against top-ranked teams.

The last No. 1 team to visit UConn was Texas on Jan. 23 2010, a 88-74 UConn win.

The last time the Huskies faced a No. 1 team at the XL Center was Jan. 19, 1997 with a 73-65 loss to Kansas, a team that included Paul Pierce. That game featured a freshman guard named Richard Hamilton having a breakout performance. current UConn Director of Basketball Operations Ricky Moore had to sit out that game with an NCAA suspension  while it also marked the end of Kirk King’s career because of an NCAA violation.
