Report: Seton Hall’s Donovan leaving for WNBA

By Carl Adamec

The New London Day, citing WNBA sources, is reporting that Seton Hall women’s basketball coach Anne Donovan will be introduced Thursday as the head coach of the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun.

Donovan will replace Mike Thibault, who was fired by the team after it lost in the Eastern Conference finals to the Indiana Fever.

Donovan won a WNBA title with the Seattle Storm in 2004 and also coached the United States Olympic team to a gold medal during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. But she has not enjoyed success at the collegiate level. She has a 21-53 overall record (2-30 Big East) in her third season at Seton Hall. She was also 33-51 in three years (1995-98) at East Carolina.

Seton Hall opens Big East play at home against Pittsburgh Saturday.
