For those wanting to see (SNY) and hear (WTIC-AM1080) more from Hall of Fame UConn women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma, here’s how.
The next Geno Auriemma Show on SNY will be shown Monday, Dec. 16, at 9:30 p.m., the day before the expected 1-2 showdown against Duke in the Jimmy V Classic at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
There will be a show on Dec. 24 at 9:30 p.m., followed by “Geno’s Legacy: Sue Bird” that will premiere on New Year’s Day at 6:30 p.m. following the Huskies’ game at Central Florida. Bird was a two-time national champion and the consensus 2002 national Player of the Year as a senior at UConn. She’s gone on to win two WNBA titles with the Seattle Storm and three Olympic gold medals. The Syosset, N.Y. native is one of eight players to win a NCAA title, a WNBA title, along with FIBA world championships and Olympic gold medals.
The coach’s show will return on Jan. 7 at 9:30 p.m. following UConn’s game and the postgame against Houston at Gampel Pavilion, with shows then on Jan. 14 at 9:30 p.m. and Jan. 22, following the Huskies’ contest and postgame with Memphis at the XL Center in Hartford, at 9:30 p.m.
The Jan. 28 show following the game and postgame against Temple in Philadelphia, the Feb. 4 show after the game and postgame against SMU at Gampel Pavilion, the Feb. 11 show, and the Feb. 19 show following the game and postgame with UCF at the XL Center will also be 9:30 p.m. starts. The Feb. 25 show will start at 7 p.m. prior to the Huskies’ contest at SMU. The final show will be March 4 at 9:30 p.m., the day after UConn wraps up the regular season at Louisville.
The UConn Women’s Basketball Coach’s Show on WTIC-AM1080 with Auriemma and radio play-by-play man Bob Joyce from Geno’s Grille in Storrs will be on today from 6-7 p.m. Other dates for the WTIC-AM broadcasts (all 6-7 p.m.) are Dec. 10, Dec. 19, Dec. 27, Jan. 6, Jan. 30, Feb. 11, Feb. 18, Feb. 27, and March 6.
