Gameday UConn-Louisville

John F. Silver

I am sitting this one out in Connecticut, but the Huskies have a ton on the line today in Louisville against the Cardinals.

UConn is 4-6, 1-4 on the season and needs the win to set up final home game to become bowl eligible. Here’s Sio Moore on the motivation for today’s game.

“it’s a lot of it with the senior wanting to get back to bowls,” Moore said. “We want to get back to doing what we done. being able to win these games and re-correct the history of this program.”
The Huskies have only one once against a ranked team in its history, a win over South Florida in 2008. They have never beaten a ranked team on the road and the games are rarely close. Louisville, of course, needs a win to setup a winner take all for the Big East title and a BCS berth. Let’s also not mention that there is the specter of each team angling for an ACC invitation. But, that’s happening much higher than the football field.
Here’s today’s story in the Journal Inquirer:  UConn football: Might as well call it the Realignment Bowl
The Huskies have no margin of error. The Huskies head down to Louisville today to take on the No. 19-ranked Cardinals with little expectation for victory and their season on the line.

The game takes place at Papa John’s Stadium today against Louisville (noon, SNY, WTIC-1080AM)

UConn is 4-6, 1-4 in the Big East has to win to keep its bowl hopes alive and give next week’s game against Cincinnati some value. Something to play for next week is this week’s motivation.
