UConn-Louisville halftime analysis

John F. Silver

Do we have an upset brewing?

Perhaps.

UConn is leading 10-0 at the half against the No. 19 Cardinals as the defense is living up to its billing as a top unit nationally.

The Huskies have held a high-powered Louisville offense to 88 total yards and is making life miserable on Ville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater who is 11 of 20 for 75 yards. Bridgewater appeared to be hurt at the end of the half after getting tackled by Sio Moore. Six TFLs and three sacks for the Huskies in the first half.

The Huskies have  also done enough on offense to create some breathing room. Lyle McCombs has 75 yards rushing and Chandler Whitmer is steady 6 of 13 for for 68 yards.

The key now for the Huskies is consolidating this game. UConn’s second halves have been awful in Big East play. They’ve only scored three points in Big East play in the second half. UConn has only one win all-time over a Top 25 team, and never on the road.

They head into the second half at Louisville with that chance. Can the Huskies put together that complete game this year?
