According to FOXsportsNEXT.com, the Huskies have received a commitment from Harrisburg linebacker Chris Britton who committed to UConn on Sunday.
Britton had an offer for Pittsburgh and may be a gray-shirt candidate with the Huskies. A gray-shirt is holding off enrollment for a semester and UConn and Pittsburgh both wanted Britton to do that. The Huskies may have a slot open for Britton to come in the summer.
Britton is a 6-3, 207-pound linebacker prospect.
The Huskies have been busy lately and the recruiting has been strong lately with the addition of athletic tight end Jordan Fuchs from Christ the King and Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg) wide receiver Brian Lemelle.
Here’s a Hartford Courant story on the UConn recruiting:
The Huskies have never been a school that has lit the fire of the recruiting services, but there are some high profile recruits in the class at the skill positions that are worth highlighting. Two, Noel Thomas and Dhameer Bradley, are a pair of wide receiver prospects that are already enrolled. Then there is Lemelle, who had over 1,500 yards receiving as a high school senior and has 17 offers.
The Huskies’ struggles at wide receiver are well-known and the staff has targeted receiver heavily the last two years. The Huskies also have a commitment from Jamar Summers of Orange, N.J.
The Huskies will have four receivers coming in this year with two redshirt freshmen, Ricky Guttierez and John Greene, also in the mix in an overhaul of the WR corps.
