Kelly Faris continues to get national attention.
The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team’s senior guard was among eight players added to the WBCA’s Wade Watch List Monday. Juniors Stefanie Dolson and Bria Hartley and sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis were members of the initial 25-player list.
Others added to the Wade Watch list were Kelsey Bone of Texas A&M, Gennifer Brandon and Layshia Clarendon of California, Tianna Hawkins of Maryland, Chelsea Hopkins of San Diego State, Niveen Rasheed of Princeton, and Meighan Simmons of Tennessee.
Faris is averaging 10.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals for the Huskies (20-1), who host Marquette Tuesday night. The Wade Watch list will be cut to 12 finalists next month with the winner being announced at the Final Four in New Orleans April 6.
Mosqueda-Lewis was named to the Big East honor roll Monday after averaging 19.0 points in wins over Villanova and St. John’s. Louisville’s Shoni Schimmel was the Big East Player of the Week while St. John’s Aliyyah Handford, who had 17 points against UConn Saturday, was the Freshman of the Week.
