For those of us watching in Connecticut, it’s been more of what we’ve seen in the first 10 days of the season.
Breanna Stewart has 12 points as the second-ranked Huskies have taken a 45-12 lead at halftime Thursday over Wake Forest in a first-round game of the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Stefanie Dolson has 11 points while All-American Bria Hartley has eight in her season debut. Hartley, who missed the first two games with a left ankle injury, has played just under 10 minutes in two first-half stints. She has made all three of her shots from the floor and half of her four free throws.
UConn took a 12-0 lead on two hoops by Stewart sandwiched around by Dolson and consecutive 3-pointers by Dolson — the first of her career — and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis. It was 20-2 when Wake Forest scored consecutive baskets for the only time. The Huskies scored the period’s final 15 [points including six by Dolson.
Asia Williams has seven points for Wake Forest, which is shooting 12.5 percent from the floor.
